About
Rippling runs payroll, devices, benefits and access from one place. That breadth is the product's argument, and motion turned out to be the clearest way to make it: showing one change moving through everything it touches.
Motion
The idea in the name is the idea in the motion. An action starts at a point and carries outward through the systems it affects, which is both a good piece of brand movement and an accurate description of what the software does.
System
We set the rules that keep that readable. A single origin per sequence, one direction of travel, and a fixed delay between each step outward, so a complicated diagram still resolves as one gesture rather than several.
Application
The same rules were applied down to the interface: menus, table updates and confirmations all move outward from the thing you touched. What starts as a brand device ends up teaching people how the product is wired.
Craft
Timing was tuned against real data volumes rather than a demo. A sequence that reads well over six items has to survive sixty, so each step shortens as the count grows instead of stacking up.
End
Rippling came away with motion that argues the product's case without a voiceover.
